Thirty graduating seniors and their guests were honored at the May 30th Scholarship Awards Luncheon.  Students were introduced and each spoke for a few minutes, sharing a bit about themselves, as well as their goals and aspirations and college destinations.  It was wonderful to meet this remarkable group of young people, and we wish them all the best.  The Scholarships Awards Luncheon is a highlight of the year.  Click here for the list of students.

The WCCRE Scholarship Fund Board is pleased to announce that 30 graduating seniors will be receiving $1,500 scholarships this year.  The students will be honored at the Div. 58 luncheon on May 30 at the Bay Cities Masonic Lodge, 5050 El Portal Drive, El Sobrante.   Click here to see the list of awardees.  Congratulations to all!

Congratulations to Jo Davis, retired school secretary (Pinole Valley High School and Montalvin Elementary School). Jo won the Grand Prize Hawaii trip at the April 4th Division 58 luncheon.

GOOD NEWS! The raffle tickets for the 2013 scholarship fundraiser are in the mail to 5,000+ current and retired employees and friends of education. The grand prize is a trip to Hawaii and there are many more exciting prizes. Be a winner and support this excellent cause.

A big thank you goes to the 30 retirees who spent their morning helping prepare the raffle ticket packets.

The drawing will be held on April 4th at the CalRTA Div 58 Retired teachers meeting. You need not be present to win.

We are pleased to announce that the 2013  Scholarship Quilt  has been completed and raffle tickets are now being sold.

Invest in our students and take a chance on winning this one-of-a-kind beauty that has been stitched by several scholarship board members. 

Tickets are sold at the Retired Teachers (CalRTA Div 58) monthly luncheons and will be available at the Scholarship Awards Luncheon on May 30 when the winning ticket will be drawn.

The winner of the 2013 Scholarship Quilt is retired teacher, Wilma Pedley. Congratulations, Wilma!

The 2013 scholarship quilt is coming together very nicely.  Quilters have been busily piecing individual blocks and met on November 5th to sew the blocks into a beautiful quilt top.  Plans are in the works for the quilting and finishing.  Quilt raffle tickets will be on sale after the first of the year – all proceeds will go directly towards the 2013 scholarships. 

All interested high school students are encouraged to submit a design for the West Contra Costa Retired Educators Fund Logo Contest. Information has been sent to high school art and computer teachers.  The award winning logo will be used on promotional materials and outreach to potential scholarship applicants.  Entries are due December 14th.  Click here for the logo contest flyer. – CASH PRIZES –

Congratulations to Judy Chandler, winner of the 2012 Scholarship Quilt.  The drawing was held at the conclusion of the Scholarship Luncheon on May 31.  The quilters are busy planning for the 2013 quilt, and raffle tickets will be available as soon as it is stitched – stay tuned for details.
